About Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology (TIAT)

Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology (TIAT), Mumbai is a highly respected education brand established in March 2006 with a motive to provide wings to students who want to pursue a career in the aviation sector with the Aircraft Maintenance Engineering course.  Since then, over the past decade and a half, it has endeavored to give the best to its students in terms of the state-of-the-art infrastructure, experienced faculty, training support, well-structured curriculum as well as On Job Training and placement assistance to the eligible students Nationally & Internationally in aviation industries and extensive participation of the students in co-curricular activities for their overall holistic development.

Thakur Institute of Aviation Technology, Mumbai is the first basic maintenance training organization in India, approved by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (D.G.C.A.), Government of India, New Delhi, EASA (European Union Aviation Safety Agency) & GCAA-UAE (General Civil Aviation Authority of UAE) to impart basic training for categories B1.1 (Heavy Aeroplane and Turbine Engine), B1.3 (Helicopter and Turbine Engine) and B2 (Avionics)  The journey didn’t stop here as TIAT again successful received EASA PART 147 approval for Type Training of A320 family along with CEO and NEO engines. 

TIAT has entered into Joint ventures with foreign Part-147 organisations for different aircraft training. The institute has set upon itself a responsibility of providing quality comparable to international standards and preparing students to measure up to the high expectations and standards of the aviation industry.

DGCA/CAR/147(B)/07 dated (07/08/2018) to impart basic training for Categories B1.1 (Heavy Aeroplane & Turbine Engine), B1.3 (Helicopter & Turbine Engine) and B2 (Avionics)

  • Q3 TIAT / 1392 dated 24/03/2006, (Issue No. 01, Rev No. 03, Dated 05-12-2012) Q3 TIAT / 5814 dated 21/11/2006, Q3 TIAT / 3629 dated 17/06/2008 under category ‘G’ Training School, to impart ab-initio training in the field of Aircraft Maintenance Engineering for obtaining Basic Licence in, Mechanical Stream: Heavy Aeroplane (HA), Light Aeroplane (LA), Jet Engine (JE) and Piston Engine (PE) Mechanical Stream: Rotary Wing (RA), Jet Engine (JE) and Piston Engine (PE) and Avionics Stream : Electrical System (ES), Instrument System (IS) and Radio Navigation System (RN).

  • TIAT under the flag of Thakur Shyamnarayan Degree College received Approval to conduct B.Sc.Aeronautics Courses (Mechanical & Avionics) in affilliation with Mumbai University.

  • The first basic maintenance training organization in India with a full-fledged AR/VR lab (Augmented Reality/ Virtual Reality) where students can gain a realistic understanding of aircraft systems and components

TIAT train the students after 10 + 2 with PCM for a duration of 2 to 2.5 years where the students undergoes the basic theoretical and practical aspects including the “Practical Training with real environment” in various airlines. It has set a responsibility of providing quality comparable to international standards and preparing students for aviation industry.

State of Art Infrastructure

The infrastructure at TIAT Mumbai encompasses CAR145 approved composite repair shop, wheel/brake shop, battery shop & NDT labs gives students exposure to other peripherals of aircraft maintenance activities.The live Aircraft include Cessna 150M, Learjet 24, an Enstrom-280C helicopter.There is a capsule of Boeing 747-200:-Cabin & JT9D7Q engine, fully equipped Turbofan Engine, Turbo Prop AI-20M, Cockpit and Fixed Wing, NLG, MLG of B747 system for demonstration.The institute has a Virtual Cockpit Simulator as well.Also the institute has an agreement with all the national leading Airlines and with few renowned international MROs for practical training.
